iSteeple (“we,” “us”) operates a public directory of churches at https://isteeple.vercel.app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.
Information we collect
- Public church directory information — church name, address, phone number, website, social media links, denomination, and service times. This comes from publicly available sources and from the churches themselves.
- Listing claim & verification information — when a church leader claims a listing, we use a phone number or email address already on file for that church to send a one-time verification code, and we record that the listing was verified.
- Information you submit — details you provide when you claim a listing, edit a listing, or add a church (such as your name, email, phone, and the listing details you update).
- Basic technical data — limited data such as IP address, used only to operate the site and prevent abuse.
How we use information
- To operate, display, and improve the church directory.
- To verify that a person claiming a listing is authorized to manage it.
- To send the one-time verification code you request, by SMS or email.
- To respond to your messages and keep listings accurate.
- To protect the service against fraud and abuse.
SMS / text messaging
If you choose to receive a verification code by text, we use your mobile number solely to send that one-time code. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out and HELP for help. See our Terms & Conditions for details.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers and opt-in consent collected for SMS verification are not shared with any third parties.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. We use trusted service providers only to deliver a message you requested — for example, a messaging provider to send a text or an email provider to send an email — and they may process your information solely for that purpose. We may disclose information if required by law.
Data retention
Verification codes are short-lived and expire within minutes. We retain claim and listing records as long as needed to operate the directory.
